The shared rooms
One uniform, three rooms
In the heat rooms, on the rest floor and in the kitchen, everyone wears the same sand-colored top and shorts.
It is how Korean spas keep a room full of strangers at ease: nobody can tell who came from work, who came with their grandmother, and who came in a hurry. The baths stay separate for women and men. Everywhere else, we are in this together.
A top, shorts and towel for every guest, from small to extra large
Washed between every use
Worn on every shared floor, never in the baths

In the room
What the uniform is for
It keeps the room even
Women, men, teenagers and grandparents sit side by side on the rest floor, and nobody has to think about what they are wearing.
It lets the heat in
The fabric is light cotton, so a heat room feels like warmth and not like a blanket. Sit on a towel and take breaks.
It keeps the floors clean
Street clothes stay in the locker. The mats, the loungers and the kitchen tables stay clean for the next guest.
The rest floor
Where most of the afternoon goes
A warm floor of woven mats and wooden headrests, with tall windows. Come out of a heat room, lie down and let your heart settle.
Voices stay low, phones stay in the locker, and sleeping is welcome. Staff check the floor often and wake no one who is simply resting.
